Titebond and Gorilla dominate for a reason. Here is which bottle to buy for indoor furniture, outdoor projects, and quick repairs — and which "wood" glues to skip.
Search "wood glue" on any retailer and the results are half super glue. Cyanoacrylate is great for a snapped chair spindle you need to fix in ninety seconds, but it is not what you want for a joint that has to hold a tabletop together for twenty years. Real wood glue is PVA (polyvinyl acetate): it soaks into the fibers, the bond ends up stronger than the wood around it, and it cleans up with water.
The good news is that the best PVA glues are also among the cheapest things in the hardware aisle. You do not need to spend more than a few dollars. What matters is picking the right grade for where the piece will live.
